Ballast Point Brewing Company
Ballast Point started in 1992 as a home brew mart and then in 1996 opened their first brewery. Jack White, a UCLA graduate, is the founder and president of Ballast Point who started brewing in his backyard. Jack teamed up with Yuseff Cherney, a UCSD graduate, and Pete A'hearn, his college room mate, to develop Ballast Point.
In 2005, they opened their second brewery in Scripps Ranch because they had outgrown their old facility and demand was on the rise. They now ship their beer around the United States, Japan, Philippines, and Canada. Their name comes from the point where Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo first stepped foot in California. Ballast Point is considered the gateway to San Diego Harbor.
