Callaway Vineyard & Winery is located in the famous Temecula Wine Country. Callaway Vineyard & Winery was founded in 1969 by Ely Callaway. Later, Ely Callaway went on to become famous also making golf products. Callaway was one of the first wineries to begin grape production and open a winery in Temecula Valley. Callaway has a restaurant called Meritage that is opened daily from 11-4 and for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays only from 4-9. Mertiage serves a Mediterranean style menu. There are seven different varietals beging grown at Callaway Vineyard & Winery. They grow Viognier, Syrah, Dolcetto, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on about 20 acres. Callaway prides itself on making its wines approachable, flavorful, and well-balanced. They focus on fruit-forward wines that pair well with food. Ely Callaway passed away on July 5, 2001 at the age of 82, but his legacy continues on. Callaway is now privately owned by the Lin family. Callaway wines are only available at the winery and not at any retail stores. Callaway Vineyard & Winery has a tasting room that is open daily from 10-5. Callaway has a tradition of using unusually cold temperatures during fermentation to slow and prolong the process. This lets their wines keep their natural fruit flavors and aromas. Callaway offers complimentary wine tours weekdays at 11, 1, and 3 and weekends every hour on the hour between 11-4 p.m. Callaway can host weddings, meetings, or any other special events that you may want.
