Karl Strauss was founded by Chris Cramer and Matt Rattner, whom met each other in college and love beer. However, they knew nothing about brewing beer, so they added Chris' Uncle Karl Strauss, German brewmaster, to their company. The three of them worked perfectly together with each of their own skills. Karl Strauss Brewing Company opened on February 2, 1989 and it was the first brewery to open in downtown San Diego in over 50 years. They became so popular that they started expanding to other parts of San Diego county. However, they still brew their beer fresh every day and deliver it to over 2,500 bars and restaurants in Southern California. Here are the Karl Strauss brewed beers:
