Mount Palomar Winery

Mount Palomar is located in Temecula, California with 40 acres of vineyards. Mount Palomar Winery was founded in 1975 by John H. Poole. Peter Poole, John's son, took over the winery in 1985 and made significant changes such as using Mediterranean grape varieties. Etienne Cowper is the wine maker that helped Peter create top quality Temecula wine. The current winemaker is now Craig Boyd, whom has years of winemaking experience from California to New York. It is owned and operated today by Louidar Inc., an Arizona Limited Liability Company. Mount Palomar focuses on making wines with Bordeaux style blends and Italian varieties. They have won numerous awards for Best of Show and Best of Class at big wine competitions. Also, they have been recognized for their environmental practices in viticulture. The winery has an early California style with many large outdoor patios and an indoor Italian style deli that is tasty. They have four cellars, a crushing and fermentation tank, and a bottling area. Mount Palomar uses French, Hungarian, and American new and old barrels to age their wine to perfection. Here is a list of Mount Palomar's wines:

- Mount Palomar Shorty's Bistro Red = is a combination of many red wines such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, etc. that has a cherry candy scent with a smooth finish

- Mount Palomar 2005 Merlot = scents and flavors of black cherry, vanilla, plum, and spice that is full bodied

- Mount Palomar 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon = scents and flavors of black plum, clove, and vanilla with a hint of oak that is full bodied

- Mount Palomar 2006 Meritage = scents and flavors of black cherry, cola, and plum that is heavy with Merlot

- Mount Palomar 2006 Petit Verdot = scents of floral with black plum, white pepper, and truffle flavors that is full bodied (limited availability)

- Mount Palomar 2005 Paramount = made with three grapes Merlot, Sangiovese, and Cinsaut that is limited in quantity
