 Orfila Vineyards & Winery opened in 1994 and is in Escondido on the way to the Wild Animal Park. They have earned over 1,000 medals in national and international competitions. Leon Santoro was the winemaker and general manager, but passed away on January 22, 2009. Don Reha from Ukiah, CA is the new winemaker. Orfila produces Rhône-style wines such as Estate Ambassador's Reserve Merlot on its 70 acre estate. Orfila provides free tours daily at 2 p.m. The tasting room is opened daily 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., so go on out and taste some of their wonderful wines. Also, Orfila Winery hosts weddings, anniversary parties, business events, fundraisers, or anything else you would like to celebrate at their beautiful facility. They can accommodate up to 350 people.
On September 19, 2006 Ofila was proclaimed Orfila Vineyards & Winery Day in San Diego County in honor of putting San Diego on the International wine map.
