Stone Brewing Takes A Trip To EuropeThe executive crew from Stone Brewing Company in Escondido are currently traveling Europe to help spread the word about great beer. Owners Steve Wagner and Greg Koch along with head brewmaster, Mitche Steele, headed out last week and will be spending a couple weeks traveling in England, Norway, and Scotland. Greg started off in England attending the 2009 TEDGlobal conference. Thanks to Greg with his tweets and pictures it is easy to travel right along with him through his experiences in Europe.
From there Greg travels to Nøgne-ø in Norway and meets up with Steve and Mitche. They along with Kjetil Jikiun from Nøgne-ø will work on the 3rd iteration of their Jolly Pumpkin/Nøgne-ø/Stone Special Holiday Ale. The first ale was brewed in San Diego at Stone Brewing Company. The second was done at Jolly Pumpkin in Dexter, Michigan with brewer Ron Jeffries. This third iteration will feature another unique variation on this recipe this time brewed with San Diego sage, which Steve brought along for the trip. Article Continued Below
From Norway, its over to Scotland to work with James Watt and Martin Dickie from BrewDog and create a beer that has been decided will be aged in scotch whiskey barrels. They do not know much more than that about this new creation yet, but once they team up with their fellow brewers from BrewDog something unique will undoubtably arise.
The final leg of the European trip will be for Greg and Mitche to head back to London for several beer events including the Great British Beer Festival. You, too, can keep up with the trip by following Greg on twitter. Add your comment |
